What is Cagrilintide?
Cagrilintide acetate is a non-selective AMYR/CTR agonist and long-acting analogue of amylin. It causes a reduction in food intake and lead to a significant weight loss. Cagrilintide novo nordisk with semaglutide in combination as CagriSema is being tested to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Cagrilintide injection for weight loss
A multicenter randomized double-blind placebo-controlled phase 2 clinical trial published in Lancet. It found that after a 26 week intervention and 6-week follow-up in 706 overweight/obese patients, subcutaneous injection once a week was safe and effective in reducing weight compared to placebo, and high-dose (4.5mg) cagrilintide had a better weight loss effect than liraglutide.
