What is Semaglutide(GLP-1)?

On December 4, 2020, Novo Nordisk submitted a marketing application to the FDA for the subcutaneous injection of Semaglutide 2.4mg once a week for weight loss.

On June 5, 2021, Novo Nordisk announced that the FDA approved Wegovy (once weekly subcutaneous injection of 2.4mg) for chronic weight management, suitable for obese (BMI ≥ 30kg/m2) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27kg/m2) adults with at least one weight related comorbidities.

The typical dose for weight loss is 2.4 mg, self-injected subcutaneously (under the skin) weekly.
